Management change at Melchers China: Long-standing CEO returns from Shanghai to the Bremen headquarters – experienced Asia expert succeeds him
Shanghai, 17 June 2024: Melchers (Shanghai) Ltd. will be undergoing a change at managing director level from July 2024 as part of a strategic restructuring. While the current CEO Anton Melchers will return to the German headquarters in Bremen after six years at the helm, his successor Claus Toxvig will take over the business in China.
Born in Denmark, Toxvig has more than 20 years of professional experience in the Asia-Pacific region. During his career to date, the 48 year old has held management positions in several multinational companies in various sectors – from renewable energies and automation to industrial machinery and other technical products. ‘I am very pleased to be able to contribute my many years of experience to the traditional and renowned Melchers Group,’ explains Toxvig regarding the new position and adds: ‘With my passion for innovative approaches, cross-cultural collaboration and the motivating leadership of international teams, I can make a contribution to further expanding our business in Mainland China and Hong Kong SAR together with the local employees.’
Long-term expansion of management planned
The repositioning is the final step for the time being in a long-term expansion of the management team at the Bremen headquarters. Anton Melchers has been part of the now four-member Management Board of C. Melchers GmbH & Co. KG – but has so far remained in the background in this dual role. The change of location is now accompanied by a new division of responsibilities and country responsibilities in the Bremen-based management team: 43-year-old Anton Melchers will remain the Board Member for Melchers China and will therefore continue to support Claus Toxvig in an advisory capacity.
