A Grand Showcase of the Ice and Snow Industry
The World Winter Sports (Beijing) Expo 2024, held from October 11 to 13 at Shougang Park in Shijingshan, Beijing, was a resounding success. As the largest ice and snow industry exhibition globally, the expo focused on exploring global trends, showcasing leading products and technologies, and supporting the development of the ice and snow industry both in China and worldwide. This year, the expo saw participation from over 400 international ice and snow brands. Representatives from major international sports organizations and global ice and snow enterprise leaders gathered to discuss the future of the industry. A report released at the opening ceremony projected China’s ice and snow industry to reach $139 billion in 2024, with an expected breakthrough of $143 billion next year.
Melchers and Wintersteiger: A Strong Partnership in China
For over 15 years, Melchers has been Wintersteiger’s partner in China, successfully selling and servicing Wintersteiger machines, which now hold an 80% market share in China. At the three-day exhibition, Melchers Wintersteiger team members Ines Daneke, Charley Li, and Victoria Li, along with Lorenzo Tertan, Head of Sales Export from Wintersteiger, attended and showcased their products. Their booth, part of the Austria delegations group, won the best booth award and attracted significant media and customer interest.
Melchers Techexport (MTE) Product Manager Ines Daneke participated in the Round-Table Dialogue of “Endless Winter Passion—The Art of Keeping the Snow Spirit Alive” and was interviewed by the German channel of China Radio Internation (CRI), sharing insights on the challenges and plans for Wintersteiger products in the promising Chinese market. Technical Sales Manager Charley Li was interviewed by CGTN, where he detailed the technical advantages of Wintersteiger machines. The team welcomed customers to their booth, strengthening bonds and showcasing Bootdoc insoles and Hotronic heating socks, which were introduced to the Chinese market in 2023.
Professional Training and Customer Engagement
Following the exhibition, from October 16 to 20, Wintersteiger Senior Engineer Mr. Christian Weber traveled to China for professional training sessions on the operation and maintenance of Wintersteiger’s machines at BC Sport’s workshop in Chongli, Zhangjiakou, including the fully automatic snowboard repair machine Discovery, the automatic wax baker Waxfuture, the waxing and polishing machine Waxjet and the Omega series semi-automatic snowboard repair machine. Key local customers were invited to participate in the training, where Christian and Charley combined theory with practice to enhance customers’ understanding of Wintersteiger machines. This training was a successful promotional activity for Wintersteiger products.
